What Our Warranty Covers

Subject to the warranty terms, we warrant qualifying products supplied and installed by The Home Shutter Company Limited against defects in materials and workmanship during the applicable warranty period.

Where a valid warranty claim is established, we may repair or replace the affected product or component as appropriate.

Where an original component is no longer available, we may use a reasonably equivalent replacement.

Natural Timber

Timber is a natural product and variations in colour, grain, texture and appearance are normal.

Natural variation is not considered a defect.

Minor visual imperfections which are not reasonably apparent from approximately four feet away under normal domestic lighting will not normally be considered warranty defects.

Exact colour, grain or finish matches cannot be guaranteed between individual products, samples, replacement components or orders placed at different times.

Colour and Finish

Our colour warranty covers qualifying premature failure of the factory-applied finish.

It does not cover staining, discolouration or deterioration caused by:

  • smoke;

  • water or moisture ingress;

  • condensation;

  • rising damp;

  • flooding;

  • unsuitable cleaning products or chemicals;

  • accidental damage; or

  • environmental or property conditions outside our control.

Natural ageing and reasonable colour changes in timber are not considered defects.

What Is Not Covered

Our warranty does not cover defects or damage caused by circumstances including:

  • accidental damage;

  • misuse, abuse or neglect;

  • normal wear and tear;

  • failure to follow reasonable care and maintenance instructions;

  • water ingress, moisture ingress, condensation, rising damp or flooding;

  • structural movement or alterations to the property;

  • replacement or alteration of windows or surrounding structures after installation;

  • unauthorised repairs or alterations;

  • inappropriate replacement parts;

  • third-party work which causes or contributes to the defect;

  • removal or reinstallation which causes or contributes to damage; or

  • external circumstances which are not attributable to a defect in our product or original installation.

Removal and Reinstallation

If shutters are removed, altered, adjusted or reinstalled by the customer or an unrelated third party, we are not responsible under the warranty for damage, misalignment, defects or other issues caused or contributed to by that work.

This does not affect your statutory rights in relation to an original defect for which we remain legally responsible.

Repairs and Third-Party Work

You should contact us before arranging repairs or alterations if you intend to make a warranty claim.

Unauthorised repairs, alterations, inappropriate maintenance or third-party work may affect warranty cover where that work causes or contributes to the issue being claimed.

Third-party work will not automatically prevent an unrelated warranty claim where it did not cause or contribute to the defect.

Warranty Claims

If you believe that you have a warranty issue, please contact us:

Email: hello@thehomeshuttercompany.co.uk

Telephone: 01923 911018

Please provide:

  • your name;

  • installation address;

  • order or invoice number where available;

  • a description of the issue; and

  • photographs or video showing the concern.

We may initially assess the claim using the information provided.

Where necessary, we may arrange an inspection before confirming whether the issue is covered by the warranty.

You must allow us a reasonable opportunity to inspect and, where appropriate, remedy a warranty issue before arranging third-party remedial work at our expense.

Site Visits

Where reasonably necessary, we may attend your property to inspect a reported warranty issue.

Where an inspection establishes that the issue is not covered by the warranty, we reserve the right to charge a reasonable call-out fee, provided you have been informed of the potential charge before the visit.

Replacement Parts

Where a valid warranty claim requires a replacement component, we will use the same or a reasonably equivalent part where possible.

Exact matches in colour, grain, texture or finish cannot always be guaranteed, particularly where:

  • natural timber is involved;

  • the original installation has aged;

  • manufacturing specifications have changed; or

  • the original component is no longer available.

Original Purchaser

Our voluntary warranty applies to the original purchaser of the products unless otherwise confirmed by us in writing.

The warranty does not automatically transfer when a property or product is sold.

Your Statutory Rights

This warranty is provided in addition to your legal rights.

Nothing in this warranty limits or excludes any statutory consumer right or remedy which cannot legally be excluded or restricted.

Our full Consumer Terms & Conditions should be read alongside this warranty.
